My Favorite TED Talks on Creativity

Here are five great speeches about the creative process, creative blocks and how to overcome them, creative thinking, and creativity in general. I hope you enjoy them.

How a Boy Became an Artist: Jarrett J. Krosoczka

I cried and laughed and agreed and related and celebrated listening to this artist tell his story. This is truly a gem among TED talks.

Creativity Under Pressure: Todd Henry

This is helpful to identify where you may be stuck in the creative process and how to adjust accordingly.

Seven Steps of Creative Thinking: Raphael DiLuzio

Really interesting, take note of these seven steps. Observing what step you are on in the creative process may help to lessen your anxiety about it.

4 Lessons in Creativity: Julie Burstein

Four aspects of life we need to embrace for our creativity to flourish.

Embrace The Shake: Phil Hansen

On creative blocks, embracing your limitations, and letting go of imperfections..absolutely inspiring.

Mural for the Theatre of Youth Step by Step

The 2nd annual ChalkFest Buffalo 2013 on the 500 Block of Main Street was a great event and it was a pleasure creating a mural for the Theatre of Youth! I was among a group of artists who were given a passage from Alice in Wonderland to illustrate for the Live Storybook Narration. I incorporated the characters from TOY’s upcoming 2013-2014 season; which include Frog from ‘A Year with Frog and Toad’, Pinkalicious, and Madeline. For more information on the shows lined up check out theatreofyouth.org.

Highlights of ChalkFest Buffalo 2013

Below are pictures of the Alice in Wonderland Storybook art by Buffalo artists, and pictures I took of the chalk creations by local artists of all ages as I walked around Main Street. I was amazed by the participation and talent!

Storybook Artists

We were all given a passage from Alice in Wonderland to illustrate for the Live Storybook Narration. I do not have all of the artist names for this event. If you are the artist or know the artist’s name, or would like to have your passage and any links included, please send me a message and I will update with your info. Thank you!

#5 My Passage:
So Alice snuck away to search deeper into the forest for her White Rabbit.
A loaf of Bread-and-butter Flies flew lazily overhead. Alice spotted Crab-Grass and a tiny horse with wings and rockers.
“A Rocking-Horse Fly” said Alice.
“Naturally” said the Rose. (at least Alice thought it was the Rose.)
“But that’s nonsense” Alice said to herself. “Flowers can’t talk.”
“Of course we can talk” said the Rose.
“If there is anyone worth talking to” added Iris.
Talking Flowers! Alice thought this was wonderful.
But have you ever had something you always thought was going to be wonderful…turn out to be not so wonderful?
Then you will know what happened to Alice next.
The flowers talked. The Flowers sang.
Then the flowers started asking questions.
“What kind of garden do you come from?”
“What species are you?”
Then the flowers started yelling.
“She’s a weed!!”
The nasty flowers chased Alice out of the garden.
