Although we have our unique qualities, all hearts beat the same under the skin. Your heart reaches out to mine as you share your story and your faith. I know that the part of myself which I share with you is taken to your heart. Today I will cherish our collective strength.
“For the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body.”
Join me and and seven of my favorite local women artists for a fun evening of cocktails & canvas, food, and live music at The Roycroft Inn in East Aurora, NY on Thursday, June 19th from 6 to 8 pm.
A few of my drawings from my sketchbook with the reference photos.
I just got over a two-week flu illness. Needless to say, I don’t have a lot to report! I’ve definitely slowed down this year as far as productivity goes, but I am using the time to focus on what really matters to me (family, real-life interactions, movie nights with my kids, friends, health, etc.!) and not forcing any new work or number of paintings. ‘Being still’ is a gift I believe was given to me with the diagnosis of lupus last year.
I feel very peaceful and in a stage of acceptance of all that has come to pass and comfortable in not knowing what the future holds. I’m carrying this attitude across all aspects of life, including my art, and truly taking the time for a lot of introspection and going with the flow. I have been practicing creating not as a means to an end, but enjoying the process. Drawing portraits of my family members has really helped me achieve this wonderful sense of personal enjoyment.
I’ve been spending much less time on social media as well. I honestly feel much better with more limited time on the computer and more genuinely happy to be there when I am online.
I have a special commission I had to put on hold until I was feeling better, so I am looking forward to completing that this month and sharing the pictures with you!
I am doing limited events this year, so if you are local, mark your calendar for the Cocktails & Canvas evening at The Roycroft Inn. It is a Thursday night; June 19th from 6-8 pm. (I will have new art on display and for sale.) I hope to see you there!
